The Zharoka Lamp
A One Week Lighting Design Exploration

Inspired from bougainvillea flowers, small pieces of a very low gsm paper attached to each other.

An exploration using OHP sheet taking inspiration from the traditional diwali lantern of Maharashra known as the 'akash kandil' .

Exploration involving square tubes of OHP and Cartridge sheets of varying heights.

Taking the previous exploration forward, and experimenting with uniform tube height and covering the tubes further with OHP sheet.

Multiple Units were made and various permutation and combinations of forms were tried with them.

Various Ideations of forms and arrangements of the panels generated in exploration 4.
Rectangular panels arranged side by side gave high chances of Flexibility and customization.
The Zharoka Lamp
The term 'Zharoka' means ' windows ' is hindi . The pattern the paper tubes makes it seem as if the light is passing though multiple windows each of a unique brightness.
Lamp And The Space
Gives enough light in the vertically downward to comfortably sit and read a book in the corner.
